Bank of America's Online Banking Service is Down

By Albert on August 27, 2010 3:43 PM

For the first time I've ever seen, Bank of America's online banking service is not working.

The website loads very slowly, and after I login, I am immediately sent back to the login page.

Grrr - I have to issue a check!

Apparently its only Massachusetts?

Bank of America Online Banking is Unavailable

UPDATE: The service has been restored as of 4:46PM, EST.

UPDATE 2: Actually, even though I was able to login five minutes ago, it now looks like its still having trouble. No, its OK, just very very slow.

Informed Banking is For Sale

For Sale

I have been developing many sites over the past ten years and Informed Banking is one of the oldest and most valuable sites I own. I've put a ton of time and effort into it and I would really like to continue to do so, but unfortunately I need to sell it.

The entire site is for sale, not just the domain. The site is comprised of a blog powered by Movable Type, a wiki powered by Mediawiki, and the expansive bank directory and the sale includes all of this plus the articles, a custom software application, photographs and many unique designs, all of which are 100% original and copyright protected. If and when the site sells, my business, Savonix Corporation, the copyright holder, will assign the rights to the new owner and transfer the domain to the new owner's registrar.

InformedBanking.com: A Valuable Website

  • Google Pagerank of 4; 174 keywords in Google
  • Domain was registered in 1999 and has been held by the same owner continuously and never dropped
  • 425 blog entries, 323 blog comments, 354 wiki pages, 20,000+ bank directory
  • 3,000 unique vistors / month, 4,500 page views / month
  • $50 - $100 advertising revenue per month, with huge earnings potential
  • $10.55 average eCPM over four years from August 2006 to August 2010

The site is up for public auction at Flippa.com, and interested buyers can make bids anytime within the next nineteen days. I do have a reserve price; I know the site is valuable but I'm not certain Flippa.com is the right auction house for this property type. Best of luck and have fun bidding!

Ulster Savings

Here's another bank, Ulster Savings Bank, I photographed while traveling through upstate New York last year:

Thankfully this picture didn't need any touching up!

National Penn Bank

National Penn Bank

This is a photograph of National Penn Bank I took last year while traveling to a friend's wedding in upstate New York. I didn't post it back then because it the quality was a little scruffy and I hadn't gotten around to cleaning it up.

Today when I was perusing some old pictures, I found it and then discovered the "retouch" tool in Picasa - very nice! Its like the rubber stamp tool in Photoshop and the Gimp.

Confusing FIA Business Credit Card Interface

By Albert on August 6, 2010 1:10 AM

I've always had a tough time figuring out how to interpret the data displayed on the FIA business credit card website. Finding the website itself was a challenge too!

Check it out for yourself, I took these screenshots:

I think I need to ignore the "CORP" section, and focus on the expandable details on the bottom of the Mastercard panel.

Long Island Bank Robbed By Darth Vader?!?!

Darth Vader Bank Robber

I just found this post about a bank robber dressed up a Star Wars character Darth Vader at BoingBoing - so crazy! Unfortunately, a Darth Vader costume is not totally unusual, and not as suspicious as say, a ski mask.

I hope they catch this crook!
